This update includes some improvements and bug fixes. If you have changed the normals, move the vertices only slightly so as not to affect the appearance of the vertices. Also, due to the limitations of either FBX or Unity (or both?), it is not possible to handle data in which only the normals are changed without moving the vertices. However, due to the limitations of FBX, it is not possible to have different normals for surfaces that share vertices, and the output will be a unified normal. When importing an FBX file with normal morph settings in Unity, please specify "Import" in the field. Normal morph can be applied if the receiving software supports it, and we have confirmed that Unity currently supports it. Normal vectors on morph objects as "Normal morph" can now also be output in the FBX file. In addition, shadows created through semi-transparent areas are now accurately rendered.
Improved path tracing renderingĪlpha mode of glTF is now supported, and semi-transparency is displayed as in the preview. Metasequoia Ver 4.8.2a has been released.
i know that sounds kinda like wut why would i draw when i can 3d but trust me, you’ll need to be able to learn how to UV map (shading/texturing etc.Metasequoia 4 (Ver4.8.2a) (7th Mar, 2022) Work with quads (which are 4 sided shapes) and tris only when completely necessary!! good topology leads to good weightpaint/rigging which leads to a better life honestly HAHA i’m remodelling a lot of my original content to have good topology and it’s honestly killin me slowly probablyĪ GOOD thing you’ll also need is some kind of ability to draw…. In regards to research and stuff, i do recommend looking into good, yummy, delicious topology (just google it and look at pictures and stuff)!! i only learnt about topology reaaally recently (i started modelling super blind so my models were always sooo messy and horrible)įor example this is the clear distinction between bad and good topology
Ok this is more of a professional program thats subscription based and severely expensive!!! i use maya for free as a student since i go to university and it’s an all-in-one kind of program!! modelling, rigging and even animating happens in this one program but its soo……… infuriating to use HAHA i personally dont recommend maya unless ur like………… determined to get into studio work but i’m p sure u just wanna do hobby stuff so!! no maya unless ur ready to drop 2K a year HAHAīut yeah other than those three, i dont really work with any other modelling program? so there’s not much else i can recommend research (sounds like im giving you homework haha)
I’ve been wanting to give blender a go for a while but omg the interface confuses me a lot so i haven’t been too bothered to give it a go (from what ive been told there’s a bunch of shortcuts you’ll have to memorise or something?) but yeah!! i heard playing with topology is nicer there, and the plus of blender is that you can export to different file types!! (like if you wanna use your model in unity for example, i think there’s mods for that?) and you can rig straight in blender!! and it’s a lot easier? so i’ve been told? (i think you can also rig completely in metasequoia but i only just made the switch to 4.1 so idk HEHE) also another plus is that blender is completely free!! maya I usually use metasequoia only for modelling/texturing- i used a separate program for rigging and that’s PMXeditorĪll i do in PMX is rig/add morphs and tweak spa/toonfiles to use in mmd!! the only downfall is that i usually use the latest versions of PMXeditor which are usually untranslated (i think there’ll be english translations floating around so you could always search for it!!) but ya blender (keep in mind this is for version 3.1 and not 4- i used to use 3.1 til just recently and both work great except 4.1 has a more upgraded UVmapping/texturing editor!!) Here’s a list of some of the basic tools for meta, it might help you out if you choose to use this program!!
This is my 3D modelling program of choice, you’ll have to have a license to use the program to it’s full extent but i personally recommend meta? it’s easier, in my opinion, quick to grasp and doesn’t lag and die half way HAHA but yeah!! I personally can only state stuff from my own experience, but i’ll try to help ya out in a more objective POV!!! it got pretty long so everything is under the cut!!
